Referenced Learning Spaces

Project Officers in each of the 39 universities on the Teaching Teachers for the Future project are working with the academic staff to help them prepare pre-service teachers for using technology in a meaningful way in their lessons.

James Brann at CSU has prepared this video on Referenced Learning Spaces, that is, tagging physical areas or spaces with a code that allows access to virtual (online) information relating to that physical space. This is also the first step in what is called augmented reality or blended reality, the layering of information and the real world.

James’ example shows two young students in a museum, looking at a dinosaur display and using an iPad, scanning a QR (quick response) code to open up a short video clip related to the display.
